2-Alarm Barn in Gordonville's Local
Author:Chief Engineer Joe Kennedy
Tue, Jan 13th, 2009 2:54:00 pm - In the wee hours of the morning, the alarm was struck for a barn fire in Station 4-3 (Gordonville)'s local, summoning Truck 4-2 (Deputy Chief Wenger) out of our station.  Chief 4-3 arrived on location and quickly upgraded the assignment to second alarm.  Crews worked to extinguish the fire and keep the fire contained to the barn and away from the adjoining structures.  A large quantity of hay inside the barn, providing a great amount of fuel, coupled with bitter temperatures forced Command to upgrade the assignment to a third alarm.  Several dozen livestock were able to be freed from the barn without injury.  Truck 4-2 was on location for approximately 5 1/2 hours.
