As the first major snow storm fell in Lancaster County, Gap felt the punch with 23 inches of snow. At 4:09pm the LCWC dispatch Rescue 4-2 to assist public at 789 Willow Lane in the Crestwood Estate development. Upon arrival, Chief Engineer Joe Kennedy had reported a malfunctioning heater in the residence. The heater had shut down due to the fresh air duct covered by the heavy snow fall. The crew of Rescue 4-2, Captain Loren Glick and Firefighter Jacob Dolbow raised a ladder and removed the snow from around the vent to allow the air to flow again. In the meantime, the fuel line to the heater had froze and needed thawing. Firefighter Jeremiah Ely used a pink shovel to remove the snow and pots of hot water to thaw the pipes and the fuel began to flow. The heater was back in service within a half an hour. |
